Web Instruction Wizard
Client instructions are captured via a highly configurable wizard.
The wizard uses simple steps, allowing both clients and internal staff to do the following:
- Input Requirement - ie. Buying, Selling, Transfer of Equity, Will
- Display your Quotation - calculated using your unique fee scales
- Input Details - ie. Client name, email, property, mortgage
- Print Documents - ie. Quotation, Cover letter, Business Terms
Word Processing and Mailmerge
Our unique, fully integrated word processing engine has the look, feel and features you have come to expect from mainstream desktop word processors. Create mailmerge documents using any of the database fields contained within the application. Edit your documents using familiar functions such as formatting, printing, table creation and cut/paste operations.
Web Case Tracking
Individual clients, internal staff and other organisations can check/update case progress online, at any time day or night. With secure account Sign in, only authenticated users have access to the case information and then only the specific matters which are assigned to them.
Significant time savings can accrue and client satisfaction increased, leaving staff/fee earners free from lengthy phone calls and able to focus on other tasks within the firm. You decide the type of events which will be stored on each case, i.e. Progress updates, appointments, notes and messages. Notes and messages are stored in a rich text format, using our integrated word processor and can be created at both matter and case levels.
Management Reporting
Sophisticated reporting and charts are built into the application allowing you to produce professional management output.
Pre built reports are available in list and summary formats and custom reports can be built to your requirements. Advanced charting gives a snapshot of business performance and charts can also be built into reports.
Comprehensive criteria selection allows users to "drill down" to specific information within your database, whether it be date, case type, client or fee related.

Aggressive Release Policy and Shared roadmap
Major updates to Protean Legal will occur at least twice annually.
Being web based we can do this seamlessly with no business interruption to you, the client.
We are currently working on exciting new features such as:
- SDLT e-submission, online input, posting, verification and submission.
- HIPs collation – complete production of your own distinct HIPs packs.
- An online Scheduler to allow sharable calendar views of events, appointments, etc.
- Mobile web access via Pocket PCs and Mobile phones to increase access.
- Community involvement is central to Protean Legal ongoing development with a published roadmap of planned product enhancements and consultation with client organisations to keep the product focussed and on track.

Protean Legal has security built into the heart of the system.
Users and their roles can be fine tuned by you to control all aspects of your system’s use.
Users can be either Anonymous or Signed In.
Signed in users have roles which dictate which parts of your system they can use. By default anonymous users can only access the quotation features.
User Scenarios:
- A member of the public can input their requirements, receive a quotation and submit the instruction for processing. They are then issued with a Sign In account which will allow them to track their case online.
- A member of staff can take an instruction, adjust the fees, edit and print a cover letter, then later on produce management reports related to all cases on file.
Both parties have an ability to create instructions, but only the staff members can use the more advanced features of the system. The member of the public has a role of "Client", whereas the staff members have a role of "Administration".
